Overview
The placement covered two operational products. In Electro, I worked on authentication, inventory, goods received notes, transfers, cashier and payment flows, returns, warranties, customer records, and thermal/A4 documents. In CGM, I helped establish reusable foundations and workflows for packages, clients, patients, caregivers, care jobs, assignments, attachments, and attendance.

A University of Moratuwa industrial placement at APP360 (Pvt) Ltd. I progressed from supervised onboarding to ownership of complete vertical slices while working with frontend and backend engineers, QA/UAT participants, release staff, and client stakeholders. The evidence comes from signed assessments and a final training report because the proprietary repositories are not public.
Problem
Retail and care operations depend on accurate quantities, pricing, schedules, permissions, and documents. Small defects can corrupt stock, interrupt checkout, discard work after session expiry, or create invalid care assignments, so the work required reliable end-to-end workflows rather than isolated screens.
Approach & architecture
Operator workflows move through guarded Next.js interfaces and shared domain APIs, with dedicated print paths and staged Development-to-UAT-to-Live promotion.
Practices followed
Owned complete operator workflows and coordinated API contracts across frontend, backend, and QA participants
Centralized session recovery, route protection, permission checks, and environment indicators
Added data-integrity guards for quantities, duplicate stock lines, discounts, payments, and schedules
Treated print output as a first-class product surface with print-only state and browser/device validation
Supported release notes, regression checks, stakeholder demonstrations, and Development-to-UAT-to-Live promotion
Challenges & resolutions
Mixed Pages Router and App Router patterns created route and authentication ambiguity.
FixConsolidated layouts, middleware, navigation, and error handling around the App Router.
Print views clipped content or included controls intended only for the live interface.
FixIntroduced print-state flags, dedicated CSS, reserved footer space, shared headers, and logo fallbacks.
Outcomes
Delivered production-facing scope across 2 business domains during a 24-week placement
Moved from onboarding tasks to ownership of complete receiving, transfer, return, print, and care-job workflows
Corrected integrity defects involving prices, discounts, duplicate items, invalid quantities, sessions, and timezones
Participated in UAT, publish cycles, regression work, release documentation, and junior-intern mentoring
